Gibraltar Accepts Mine Safety Award for Outstanding Safety Performance
On May 4, 2021, the British Columbia Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation recognized BC mining companies with the best records in health and safety measures at the virtual 59th annual Mine Safety Awards.
For the fifth time in seven years Taseko’s Gibraltar Mine was awarded with the John Ash award, a prestigious award that is given to the B.C. mining operation with a minimum of one million hours worked that has the lowest injury-frequency rate.
Richard Tremblay, Taseko’s VP of Operations, commented on the award, “2020 was a significant year for everyone working at our Gibraltar Mine. Wining the John Ash Award an outstanding accomplishment, but more importantly, the workforce achieved an incredible milestone of completing an entire calendar year, 1.4 million person hours worked, without a loss time incident.
This success is a reflection of the skill and dedication of our employees to not only operational excellence but also to the well-being of their fellow workers. Safety is a core value and the first consideration taken in all decisions and actions.
On behalf of the management team at Taseko, we congratulation our employees on this great accomplishment” concluded Mr. Tremblay.
